Big Society Special Constable Volunteer Force

....or the Police as they used to be known. Saw this story of how West Midlands police have, due to budget cuts, forcibly retired some coppers with 30 years service. Then, a few weeks later, they sent them letters inviting them to apply to be Special Constables i.e. come back and work for free. I daresay the irony of our Boys In Blue, who would be quite happy I am sure to bludgeon some unsuspecting UK Uncut protester to death, being on the leading edge of Ordinary Dave's Big Society Cut-A-Thon is entirely lost on them. I, however, pissed myself laughing.
