It looks like the only place you can get this at the moment is via some dodgy torrent. But then perhaps that is as it should be. We are, after all, talking about a TV program broadcast in 1988 about a band that formed in the late 1970's. It's now 2010. The program is 22 years old and the band are over 30. I remember references to the 60's when I was growing up and how far away that decade seemed from, not where I was but when I was. The 80's are now, in reality, further away from me than the 60's felt at the time. The past is an unfulfilled yearning. |

Funnily enough H I had a similar conversation with my son yesterday. He's into the Pixies (can't fault it). Of course, the difference in time between the Pixies and 'now' is comparable to the difference in time between Bill Haley and The Clash. Astonishing.
Wow, so young looking there, shocking...
the shitty 7zip-garbage isn´t working. any idea, dude? would do me a favor if have a hin on it. thanx!
@ anon - Can you be any more specific than "the shitty 7zip-garbage isn't working"? You do know its password protected?
@ everyone else - Has anybody else had problems?
I was making a similar point just the other day as well....
The difference between 1950 and 1980 is now the same length of time from 1980 to now and yet when you think of the music made in 1950 and compare it to the music of 1980, there is just no comparison (and when you think of all the musical styles that emerged between 1950-1980) and yet musically speaking, I do not see anything like the same progression.....at my age, I should be absolutely unable to comprehend the music made today, and I do, but not in the way my parents could not comprehend the music I used to listen to in 1980, for them, it was just "noise"...and yet on the rare occasion I watch something like MTV, its the complete lack of radicality that shocks me, the utter blandness and the lack of any revolutionary jumps in musical styles....(even 'dubstep' which is touted as a brand new phenomenon, just listen to the 1980 Section 5 album!)
Its bizarre that teenagers today are listening to bands like Joy Division as it would be like my 1980 self listening to the music of 1950! Its almost as though time has stood still sonically speaking.
Admitedly in the early eighties I listened to a lot of late 60s psychedelia but relatively speaking there was only a 15-16 year time gap at the most)....
Glad that I am not alone in pondering this high strangeness.
Sorry, forgot to add, no issues with the "shitty 7zip-garbage" ....I think a few people do not get that there is a repair function on WinRaR and about 50% of the time, that sorts any corrupt zipped files (if a recovery file is included I believe but may be wrong about that, maybe it repairs itself using magical fairy dust).
