The Wolfhounds - Cut The Cake (EP)

Given the British preoccupation with the weather I couldn't let this pass by without comment.

It is fucking Baltic here.

I live about 10 miles from Woodford which recorded a temperature of -17.6C yesterday. Whilst I don't think it was quite that cold here, it is fucking up my plans right royally.

I was supposed to be on the picket line in Crewe yesterday but woke to discover that I had no heating and no running water. Yes, you've guessed it - frozen pipes. With my wife and daughter at home - her school is closed - I had no option but to spend a fair proportion of the day under the floorboards with an electric fan heater.

Having got up at 6am I got the heating back on about midday and the water going at about 2pm. Not bad, eh? Saved me a hefty call-out charge I should imagine. My excellent neighbours baled me out with bottles of water for a brew, to warm us up, until I got it going again.

(Although I do think the rest of the world must be pissing themselves at our complete inability to cope with what amounts to about 6" of snow)

The Best of The Wolfhounds is available from Cherry Red and the line-up for this release was:

Hey Son !
jim

It's not about how many inches you've got, it's what you do with it that counts. What a fucking joke the snow has been, the only thing is I remember a similar scenario in Feb 2009, has no one learned. I mean what would people do if the shit really hit the fan and we ended up in some post apocalypse style scenario were they had to survive, some people just wouldn't, they're having trouble standing at the moment, not because they keep slipping on the ice but with their lack of backbone. All the best.

@ Private Somewhere - Cheers for that. I will definitely give them a listen.

@ Nuzz - I love the way we get all the guarantees from No. 10 like, "we will ensure the gas supply keeps going" and "we will ensure the roads are gritted". More empty promises that I just don't even care whether they deliver. They're an irrelevance - autonomous, local solutions are needed, not windy Gordo and his duffer mates. "We will ensure this never happens again (until the next time)."

Thanks for the comments. I have re-upped the 'Cruelty' 12" and updated the link in that post. There still seems to be a couple of active links from MultiUpload for the 'Cut The Cake' 12" but let me know if they're no good.
