Thank you for all these great scans of the classics Zig Zag magazines Highlander, I really enjoy with the pictures and reviews of the bands of the mid eighties and with all the obscure music that you have posted in this blog.

Highlander, please take a look to these 2 songs and help me to identify them or give some clue or tell me your opinion... I'm desperate, I hope you recognize some of them (the 2 tunes are around 1986, batcave style I think...)

01 - MISSING1
02 - MISSING2

All the best,
Paul

Paul - thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.

Had a listen to the tracks and no. 1 definitely sounds like Alien Sex Fiend to me. I don't know the song but if it was 1986 then 'IT The Album' might be the source. You may find something here to help track it down..

As for track no. 2, I haven't got a clue :( Sorry.

Would be well worth asking Curious Guy though as a lot of his stuff is even more obscure than mine ;)

I can't believe I've never asked this before...What exactly is a Cactus Mouth?

mug - lol! Finally somebody asks me where I got the name for the blog from! I've only waited 2 years. Thanks mug :)

'Cactus Mouth Informer' is a song on the Inca Babies first album 'Rumble'. I chose it as I discovered Curious Guy's blog - 'Phoenix Hairpins' - when I had Googled 'Inca Babies' and his blog served as the inspiration for my own given the similar relative obscurities of our record collections.

Given that the blog was also going to be a vent for my various rants I also liked the symbolism of 'Cactus Mouth' - a sharp tongue, barbed words, spikiness, etc - and the 'Informer' part was my role - letting the blog readers know my thoughts. Also liked the double-edge of 'Informer' given its usual meaning - Police informer, etc.

Who would've thought so much effort went into a name...

First of all I'm sorry for the delay but the song MISSING 2 has been already identified, this is the ex-Buzzcocks "Pete Shelley - Designer Lamps", certainly a weird song.

I'm wondering about to asking Curious Guy in his superb music blog about the other track. Surely I will ask him today about this song.

Cheers,

paul

No need to apologies Paul :)

Glad you've found out what one of tracks is at least. Let me know what Curious Guy comes up with.
