Curve - Horror Head (EP)

I will confess to having found Toni Halliday of Curve particularly attractive in my youth. But then I think every Indie/Goth fan boy did given her topping the 'Most Desirable' chart in some naff poll or other at the time (after time).

But her voice was also one of the most appealing I have heard (if 'appealing' is the right word - probably alluring would have been better). Listen to 'Frozen' from the 'Coast Is Clear' EP and the 'oooh-ooh-ooh-ooohh' bit at 1min 50sec in still sends shivers right down my spine into my nether regions.

By lucky coincidence the excellent Archived Music Press blog, which has scans from the Melody Maker and NME from 1987-1996 - the period immediately following my own Zig Zag posts but still encompassing a hefty section of my musical development, has posted the 26th October MM interview by Steve Sutherland.

And, as if that weren't coincidence enough, the equally worthy Station Approach music blog posted Curve's debut album 'Doppelganger' on 14th January. 'Horror Head' is on the album but the other three tracks on this EP aren't.

Note that rips from this point on will be in .7z file format, as suggested by Jorgon Gorgon, to avoid further confusion over extraction. In short, get 7zip - it's free ffs.

Pleasure when it's so well received anonymous :)

Any chance you could upload the singles from the "Cuckoo" and "Come Clean" era? And "The Way Of Curve" and "Radio Sessions"? I'd kill for high quality rips of those - most sites only seem to have low-quality 128kbps. Curve's sound demands high quality! I would buy them but they are impossible to find.

Thanks.

I have the "Fait Accompli EP" and the "Pubic Fruit" compilation if you want them!

Unfortunately anonymous I don't have them :( or I would. Thanks for the offer as well but I do have 'Pubic Fruit' - has the 'Fait Accompli' EP got any unavailable b-sides? I did used to own a copy but I think it got sold when I bought Pubic Fruit. I usually check anything I am buying on CD covers my vinyl collection so I don't miss out on any songs (sad, eh?). You can let me know.

I did have a search here and 'Voices From The Moon' looks a reasonable bet. Or is that one of the 128kbps sites you were referring to?

Thanks for taking the time though.

Hi Highlander, thanks for your reply.

Yes, the "Fait Accompli EP" has two new tracks and the mix of Fait Accompli is different to both the "Doppelganger" version and the "Pubic Fruit" version. It's an awesome EP.

I'll upload it for you and send you the link.

Yeah, Voices From The Moon has some good stuff but I have it all already.

I wish CURVE themselves would actually reissue all this stuff, I'm sure there are still plenty of fans who want to buy all their releases. As far as I know only "Doppelganger" and "Cuckoo" are still in print.

Curve are very worthy indeed. Instead of ripping the poor bastards off (ie. the very generous Dean and Toni) how about supporting them - Horror Head CD may STILL be purchased direct from Dean www.curve.co.uk and I am certain The Way Of.. is available. Download all the Madonna, Britney or Justin you want, but please, put your money where your mouth is.

Fair point Dave - hadn't spotted that this EP was still available direct. I've now redirected the link to Dean's site.

Thanks Highlander, good one!

Can someone rip Pubic Fruit in lossless? I would love those rarities in lossless. I own all the albums & the Chinese Burn EP.
