A great but 'misunderstood' band,B side of their Rules and Regulations 12" was blank with cartoon caricatures scratched into surface. I saw them with Ted Chippington (and i think skifflers Terry and Jerry) on the Vindaloo label package tour. Vicky Fuzzbox now fronts Vix n' the Kix. Keep up the good work Midge
God, this brings it all back. Remember them playing "Spirit in the sky" on the Old Grey Whistle Test. Awesome, much better than any version of it released since.
God, I fancied Tina the drummer big time back then...
Darren, Tina was tiny (and i'm not exactly tall) i remember her standing on a chair next to me at what i think was a Sugarcubes gig at the (unseated) Hummingbird :)
I was at their first gig at the Acocks Green Mesthodist Hall just across the road from where Tina lived. She ended up marrying a good friend of ours Jim Braddock. Apparntly live in the country somewhere, haven't seen them for years. Vix worked for me for a while a few years ago. Any old Brummies remember Nigel The Spoon, Egyptian Fring or The (Anti) Contras? Good days!
I remember seeing Tina at New Street Station heading on up the escalators. I'd have said something but my legs had gone to jelly and I couldn't move...
@ Digbeth - I remember the 12"! My next door neighbour, Stuart, had it. I've scanned the Ted Chippington interview from this issue as well so you can look forward to seeing that at some point in the future. Not quite as photogenic though, has to be said.
@ Darren - Vicky was always my favourite which means I envy you Life In Bearwood!
@ Nuzz - I'm coming over right now.... [footsteps, door slams]
