UK Decay - The Black Cat EP & For My Country
Been meaning to do these two singles since my first UK Decay post in March.
Here are 'The Black Cat' EP and 'For My Country' - the bands first two singles after their split debut with Pneumania. 'For My Country' was originally released on Fresh Records as Fresh 12 - I have the later reissue on UK Decay records (for musicophiles) and it is one of my favourite Decay songs. I have included scans of the inside gatefold open, as virtually all UK Decay's single releases featured wraparound sleeves which added to the music.
The UK Decay website has more.
Abbo - Vocals/Guitar
Steve Spon - 5 Str. Guitar/Keyboards
Martyn "Segovia" Smith - Bass
Steve Harle - Drums
UK Decay - The Black Cat EP (Single) (Plastic Records PLAS002 1979)
- Message Distortion
- Disco Romance
- Black Cat
- Middle Of The Road Man

UK Decay - For My Country (Single) (UK Decay Records DK3 1980)
- For My Country
- Unwind

Hell YES Highlander - great stuff. Do you happen to have the first 7" (split with PNUEMONIA) ?. Hmmm I likely didn't spell that correctly :)
Ooops I mean Pneumania....
Unfortunately it is the only bit of UK Decay vinyl I do not possess :(
Curious guy would seem a good bet.
I think this is a great post, Unwind is definitely one of my top ten DK tunes. Thanks!
Great stuff! Thanks
I can help with the split 7" :)
A pleasure zeroid and james - be sure to check my archived posts for more UK Decay.
Curious Guy you're a star - you've come thru again in respect of the vinyl. Lookin forward to it as I'm sure English Paul is.
Very nice! It's always great to see some UK Decay love, whether or not I have the original vinyl already.
thanks - from one of the remaining LU7 PX
Remmember 'it lies in shit surrounded only by flies ....'
Been thoroughly through your archives - some amazing stuff! This is the internet finally going to good use! :) Thanks for all the work that must go into it
Bitterandrew, Harry & James - a pleasure and a privilege made all the more worthwhile when I get comments like yours. Thanks for taking the time.
I just have posted the UK Decay / Pneumania split single on my blog. Cheers.
Wow just what I wanted, loved this band since "the Black Cat" was released. Huge thanks to all.
Thanks Steph - hope you found the other UK Decay posts although the Furyo stuff has been removed as Cherry Red did a CD reissue. I did scan an interview with UK Decay from a 1982 issue of ZigZag today so that will be up at some point. Curious Guy at Phoenix Hairpins has posted a lot of the offshoot stuff as well - like In Excelsis and Ritual - and he's always worth a visit.
Bloody brilliant! Thumbs up, etc. IBx
